Restricted and priority access

Use Shopper access → Change admission order or priority access when a launch needs an approved audience or a priority lane. These are different choices.

Choice Effect
Restricted access Only approved shoppers can join
Add priority access Keep the ordinary audience and give eligible shoppers a priority path
Weighted priority Target three priority admissions for each standard admission
Priority skipping Move approved shoppers to the next protected admission

Neither priority mode reserves stock or skips the room’s safety and checkout rules. A ratio is not a promised exact position or waiting time.

  1. Choose Restricted access, or enable Add priority access with your normal admission order.
  2. For a priority lane, choose Weighted priority or Priority skipping.
  3. Enter a Custom invite code using 8–64 letters, numbers, spaces, underscores, or hyphens. Do not reuse a password or other account credential.
  4. Review the audience and behavior summary, then save the draft.
  5. Test the shopper flow with an approved code and an unapproved entry before publishing broadly.
  6. Share the code only with the intended audience. Do not put a real private code in public screenshots or support attachments.

When editing a room with a saved code, a blank field keeps it; entering a replacement changes it. Do not assume a blank field means no access rule exists.

The Shopify customer tag selector is shown only when that capability is enabled for the release/store. If it is available, choose the tag and follow the sign-in requirement shown by the app. Restricted tag access needs the signed-in customer to match the tag; displaying a sign-in button alone does not prove eligibility.

If the selector is absent, do not plan a tag-based launch or assume that a general Settings description activates it. Ask support about availability. The separate Growth and access roadmap page is not an activation screen for future audience tools, hype-room content, or marketing blocks.

Reopen the room and verify its saved admission order, code-preservation notice, and sign-in behavior. Test allowed and rejected shoppers. A list signup or notification email alone never assigns an access rule.
