Inventory and purchase limits

QueueFront manages entry; Shopify determines whether a product can be purchased. Admission does not set aside inventory.

  1. In Details, select the product or variant and review the quantity limit shown for each target.
  2. For collection scope, enable the optional combined limit if you want a cap across protected collection items, then enter the maximum.
  3. Review the resulting limits on the final Review screen.
  4. Test the intended cart with a quantity within the limit and one above it using the supported checkout path.

A collection cap does not replace product-level limits; the stricter applicable rule wins. A per-order limit is not proof that the same person cannot place multiple orders.

For stronger one-per-customer checks, review Review → Advanced settings → Customer enforcement. Requiring Shopify customer login changes the shopper journey and makes the sign-in option mandatory. Test that journey before launch.

For supported merchandise scopes, expand the advanced admission controls and review:

Field Purpose
Active admission limit Bounds how many admitted shoppers can be active at once
Inventory safety buffer Keeps a buffer when calculating inventory-based admission
Slow admissions below Reduces admission pace when stock gets low
Pause admissions at Stops new admissions at the configured low-stock threshold

Use values suited to your merchandise and checkout behavior. There is no universal safe rate or buffer. Review validation messages if the thresholds conflict.

Entire Store does not track inventory for individual products. Those inventory controls are not a promise of store-wide stock management.

Open the room’s inventory panel and review the displayed availability and freshness. Use Refresh inventory when you need an updated reading. If it is unavailable or stale, investigate rather than treating it as confirmed stock.

Close as sold out is an operating action for eligible merchandise rooms. It changes the room’s state; it is not a substitute for managing product inventory in Shopify. Review operating controls before using it.
