Email, confirmation, and opt-outs
Email readiness has several parts. A verified sender, an active list, eligible subscribers, and an enabled sending preference are separate checks.
Before sending
Section titled “Before sending”- Open Email sender and check the displayed verification state.
- Set a monitored reply-to address so shopper replies reach the store.
- Review whether email confirmation is required for signups.
- Confirm sending is enabled only when you intend to send.
- Review the message, destination, and available email allowance.
- Inspect subscriber eligibility before choosing Notify eligible shoppers.
A message preview does not send. Sender verification alone does not switch sending on.
Follow one signup end to end
Section titled “Follow one signup end to end”For a controlled test, sign up through the actual product form using an inbox you control. Complete confirmation if requested. Inspect the subscriber state, intentionally send the eligible message, then check receipt and the unsubscribe link in that message.
Delivery status describes the provider/app result. It does not prove inbox placement, message rendering, or that a recipient read it. Check those separately in your test inbox.
Understand subscriber states
Section titled “Understand subscriber states”| State or label | How to interpret it |
|---|---|
| Awaiting confirmation | Do not treat it as completed confirmation |
| Confirmation expired | The old confirmation cannot complete the signup; use a fresh signup flow |
| Unsubscribed | The shopper opted out; do not force them back into an eligible state |
| Email removed | Contact details were removed; retained status/evidence is separate from a usable email address |
Respect the requested purpose
Section titled “Respect the requested purpose”Send the update the shopper requested. A product notification request is not permission for unrelated promotions. Keep the unsubscribe path intact, and use a fresh explicit opt-in when the shopper chooses to subscribe again.
If a message does not arrive, follow the email troubleshooting checks.
Find the detailed procedure
Section titled “Find the detailed procedure”- Sender and custom domain: verification, reply-to, sending preferences, DNS, and a deliberate test.
- Defaults and triggers: shared content, overrides, room-opening notifications, and manual sending.
- Subscribers and consent history: every displayed subscriber state and the evidence behind it.
- SMS setup: the separate assisted activation process.
