Admission and capacity
These controls answer different questions. Start with modest settings and test the actual storefront before increasing them.
| Control | Question it answers | What it does not promise |
|---|---|---|
| Admission order | Who gets the next turn? | Stock reservation or a guaranteed wait time |
| Admission rate | How quickly can shoppers be admitted? | A fixed number of completed purchases |
| Queue capacity | How many shoppers can wait? | Your total monthly allowance |
| Active-admission limit | How many admitted shoppers can be active at once? | Inventory availability |
| Inventory guard | When should availability affect admission? | Replacement for Shopify inventory configuration |
Choose an admission order
Section titled “Choose an admission order”- First come, first admitted: admit in join order.
- Randomized pre-queue: randomize early arrivals before admissions, then use join order. The app requires a pre-queue of at least one minute for this mode.
- Continuous lottery: select randomly from shoppers who are waiting. Some summaries describe this as continuous randomized admission.
- Restricted access: require an approved audience before joining. Configure the invite code or available customer-tag rule.
Availability and additional access controls can depend on your plan and room configuration. Describe the chosen rule honestly in shopper messaging; do not show a guaranteed numeric position for an experience that cannot support that promise.
Balance rate and active admissions
Section titled “Balance rate and active admissions”The admission rate and active limit work together. Raising only the rate does not remove the active limit. Choose values that fit your checkout journey, stock, launch scope, and expected traffic.
Use the live view to understand the current room. Treat estimated waits as estimates, not a checkout deadline or a guarantee of stock.
Keep plan limits in view
Section titled “Keep plan limits in view”Room settings and monthly usage limits are separate. Review both before publishing. The app may require changes to the schedule or capacity even when a draft can be saved.
Next: plans and usage and the launch checklist.
Set the controls step by step
Section titled “Set the controls step by step”- Open Shopper access for the draft and choose the admission order.
- Set the admission rate. Start with a rate your stock and checkout journey can support; increasing it admits faster, not more fairly.
- Choose a queue-capacity preset or custom value within the offered limits.
- Review the checkout window and, under advanced controls, the active-admission limit. An expired admission needs the intended recovery flow.
- Configure inventory guards and purchase limits where applicable.
- Save, reopen, and test an ordinary shopper and any restricted/priority path.
Why admissions may be slower than the selected rate
Section titled “Why admissions may be slower than the selected rate”The room can be in pre-queue, paused, at its active-admission limit, or affected by an inventory threshold or allowance. A rate is a control, not a guarantee that enough eligible shoppers and available capacity exist at every moment. Use live monitoring before changing several settings at once.
